The 2025 ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup proved to be another historic tournament for India as they secured their second consecutive title with a dominant performance. Held in Malaysia from January 18 to February 2, the tournament featured sixteen teams, but it was India who emerged victorious once again, showcasing their strength and depth in women’s cricket.
India started their campaign strongly in the group stage, comfortably winning all their matches. Their batting lineup, led by Gongadi Trisha, consistently posted high scores, while the bowlers, spearheaded by Vaishnavi Sharma, restricted opponents with ease. As the tournament progressed into the Super Six stage, India continued their winning streak, defeating top teams to secure a semi-final spot.
In the semi-finals, India faced England in a crucial clash. England, known for their aggressive style of play, struggled against India’s disciplined bowling attack. Vaishnavi Sharma was exceptional, taking key wickets early on, limiting England’s total. Gongadi Trisha once again played a composed innings, leading India to victory and setting up a final showdown against South Africa.
The final, played at Bayuemas Oval on February 2, was a one-sided affair. South Africa, batting first, could only manage 82 runs in their 20 overs as India’s bowlers delivered a clinical performance. Vaishnavi Sharma was the star with the ball, dismantling the South African lineup with her pace and accuracy. Chasing the modest target, India dominated with the bat. Gongadi Trisha played an outstanding innings, scoring an unbeaten 110 runs, ensuring India’s commanding nine-wicket victory.
With this win, India cemented their position as the powerhouse of youth women’s cricket. Gongadi Trisha finished as the tournament’s highest run-scorer and was named Player of the Series, while Vaishnavi Sharma emerged as the leading wicket-taker. India's back-to-back titles in the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup mark a new era of dominance, proving that the future of Indian women’s cricket is brighter than ever.
